When I was a kid I enjoyed the music of Jackie DeShannon.
She was a part of that 'top 40' scene of which I once partook then turned from while on active duty in the Navy.
While much of my younger tastes dissipated like so much dewdrops in the morning sun, some lingered and she was one of those.
During that time she was rather like a muse singing that blonde soulful music like Dusty Springfield.
She attracted me with her sweet lyrical soft and melodious tones even on that inferior fidelity of the AM radio to which I listened for much of that era in my life.
She was born Sharon Lee Myers on August 21, 1941 and became an American singer and songwriter who was highly relevant in the musical charts from my childhood in the 1960s as both a chanteuse and composer.
Her popularity continued long afterwards and she was a female pioneer of the rock and roll era.
She has been employed in entertainment broadcasting since 2009 with a concern promoting The Beatles.
Her work has been covered by other performers, some of whom gained hits with their renditions.
I am always happy to stop and listen to her work even now in my twilight.
