Carol Channing found her way to my television screen frequently during her career. While broadway never lent anything to my entertainment choices I always found her interesting when I encountered her on other venues.
I was always taken with her gigantic smile and eyes and the humility she projected during interactions with interviewers and how much she seemed to enjoy life.
She was an effusive dominating personality which projected a kindness and utter glee you don't see in a lot of performers anymore.
Such as the stupid mangy cur Robert De Niro.
Carol Channing was a considerate person of tact and poise and she would never stoop to his ignorant bottom feeder level.
She was an award winning singer and dancer and is an American Theater Hall of Fame inductee since 1981.
Carol Channing passed from natural causes January 15, 2019 at her home in Rancho Mirage, California at the age of 97 just 16 days shy of her 98th birthday.
On January 16, the lights on Broadway were dimmed in her honor. Her cremains were sprinkled between the Curran Theatre and the Geary Theater in San Francisco.
