Recollections of Jack Ruby

    Jack Ruby
On this day in 1964, Jack Ruby was convicted of killing Lee Harvey Oswald, the assumed assassin of John F Kennedy. The entirety of the murder of our 35th President is fraught with suspicious aspects garnering feelings of mistrust and malfeasance in public office ... along with the thought that dirtbag murderers had assumed control of the country.

Jack Leon Ruby was born Jacob Leon Rubenstein on April 25, 1911. He passed from pulmonary embolism which arose secondary to bronchogenic carcinoma on January 3, 1967.

He murdered Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, while Oswald was in police custody after being charged with both the assassination of John F Kennedy and the murder of Dallas policeman J D Tippit.

I was sitting before the television with my mother watching the live video as Ruby fires his pistol into the body of Lee Harvey Oswald. The narrative continued with his rapid deterioration and it was obvious his condition was grave gone to worse. All of this transpired in our living room at Aragona Village in Virginia Beach, Virgina during what had become the darkest period in my childhood.

A Dallas jury found Ruby guilty of murdering Oswald, and he was sentenced to death. On appeal he was granted a new trial but did not live to see his newly won day in court due to the sequela of his pre-existing cancer.

In September 1964, the so-called "Warren Commission" farce concluded that Ruby acted alone in killing Oswald. Various theories have been developed by outside groups based on what was perceived to be covered up evidence, heavy handed military threats issued to healthcare and other professionals during the decedent affairs being afforded to the dead chief executive — and by and large I find personally that the entire affair could have used a level of oversight and that heads should have rolled after the fact. Military heads in particular.

Over the years those ensuing governmental investigations have not stood up well under the scrutiny of scientific methods and eye witness accounts of the Dallas, Texas tragedy, as evidenced by the test of time.

Suffice it to say that the US Government itself appears complicit in the murder of JFK with individuals such as John Foster Dulles, George Herbert Walker Bush, and Lyndon Baines Johnson never having been questioned nor brought under any scrutiny whatsoever during the initial investigations nor any time after the murder.

An interesting sidebar was that same day in 1967 saw the body of John F Kennedy relocated to a permanent burial place at Arlington National Cemetery.

Jacob Leon Rubenstein, aka Jack Ruby is interred in a Jewish cemetery named Westlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Norridge, Illinois.
