Diana, Princess of Wales
Diana Frances Spencer
July 1, 1961 – August 31, 1997
This day 25 years ago Diana, Princess of Wales was killed in an automobile accident in Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris. Diana was 36 years old when she died at the hands of Dodi Fayed's impaired drug addicted alcoholic chauffeur, Henri Paul.
Now it is not my place to criticize her relationship but I really think Prince Charles could have been a better steward of her heartstrings than he was ... and I feel that her fling with Mr Fayed to be fiscally motivated.
The heir apparent of the Harrods retail empire likely was rolling in dough himself.
Be all of this as it may the reaction of the royal family to her death was shall we say ... somewhat less than touching.
After British subjects rose up in vehement opposition to their "so what" attitude toward their collective grief at the loss of the princess the situation improved somewhat.
I recall where I was and what I was doing on that day when the news was announced to me.
I also recall the diminished esteem I had for Prince Charles afterward which went hand and hand with my disdain for Camilla Parker-Bowles.
This harsh attitude has somewhat tempered over time.
After all was said and done Prince Charles exhibited very poor taste to say the very least. A man wants what a man wants.
I hope he remains happy with his role as Camilla's walking talking tampoon.
