Public Comportment is Sometimes Less Than it Might be

   Jessica Sanders blows a gasket
Public comportment is one of those things we pretty much view as optional anymore.

It appears that the notion of civility, polite company, and even minimal tolerance are quick to be cast aside regardless of appearances ...

or who is watching and more importantly — recording.

Case in point, one Jessica Sanders yelled the n-word at a black couple a dozen some odd times in an interaction with a black couple, Mr and Mrs Ernest and Crim.

The altercation ocurred the Margarita Festival in Chicago on on July 30.

It seems that the Mr and Mrs Crim thought Ms Sanders had finished with some game pieces at the venue and picked them up prematurely.

Were I the one with whom they interacted I would have just laughed it off and let them 'play through' as it were because a game is a game and there is sportsmanship and other aspects of personality I would rather show than my ass in public.

So, it seems that the presence of Ms Sanders' black friends being present exacerbated the situation from a "feelings" stand point and I am quick to point out that things certainly could have been better handled.

Someday we will stop flying off the handle and try to be a bit more tolerant ... at least in public.

When I'm behind the wheel I tend to "go off on people" whereas in person I am particularly easy going. I can only attribute this to how I want others to perceive my raising ... and likely a dose of guilty conscience for blowing my stack so often when I was younger.

The bottom line is we should attempt to disagree much less disagreeably if it's possible. Sometimes I think we simply fail to think ... or even try.

With the constant barrage of 'blatant racism' I also note that everything is racist anymore. There are no words which may be said to me to make me yell racism as we see so often in the news these day.

I would likewise submit that name calling be relegated to that juvenile activity it is in actuality and that the race card might be better applied otherwise. I don't see this happening, however.
