I remember times long ago at Grandma Ida's house playing with Duncan tops and Yo-yos.
It was a pleasant interlude from which I really didn't gain much in the way of skills but it killed a lot of time which would otherwise have been exceedingly boring.
Grandma had a long hall from which you could duck into a bedroom and that was where I plotted my various toy endeavors which meant nothing to anyone but me.
Today is National Yo-Yo Day. It is held under the auspices of one Daniel Volk since 1990.
The yo-yo has been around some two millenia and I personally believe they began as Filipino constructs which made their way across the playtimes of children everywhere. I always bought Duncan yo-yos not even knowing who Donald F Duncan Sr was in real life.
The June 6 date was supposed to correspond to the birthday of Donald F Duncan Sr. He was born on June 8.
So break out that yo-yo you have stashed and wow the crowds everywhere.
