National Wine Day 2025
I was more of a wine drinker while a younger man. Then I went through my liqueur phase where I drank a lot of Drambuie and Contreaux.The wine was easier to down and more 'thirst quenching' than the liquors I also consumed were.
I would make fun of others with my 'A box of wine, a can of beans, and you" quips as I found myself more and more less preoccupied with socializing while drinking than I was with simply 'copping a buzz'.
I called it all "drinking for effect".

The day is meant to promote the enjoyment of this fermented drink’s many types and is observed each May 25th.
Wine enthusiasts hold tastings and all those socials and fetes I used to avoid for all the mingling.
I don't mingle.
Regardless, I will partake of a snootful if one is being offered and I can engage conversation in my old age like I never could as the post-teenage sophomoric human being I was early on.
