National White Wine Day 2026

    white wine
There was a time whereby I would sip a glass of wine most evenings. It was a matter of relaxation and trying to contend with the innumerable ridiculous instructions and requirements I received during the previous workday.

It all fades into that darkness of the past I'd soon forget as well as the stupid women making those instructions to me when despite their masters degress and PhDs they simply were another cluster of dumb human beings with their fugly spouses and children to be avoided at all cost.

So my days of white wine as I think of them were over some 20 years back. Still the memories beckon me to break out my firearms and clean them and load them and finally have my revenge on the dumb ass bitches.

White wine is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting the clear juice of grapes, typically green or yellow varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, without extended contact with the grape skins.

Grapes are crushed and the juice is separated from the skins right away. Skipping skin contact keeps the color pale straw yellow or gold and keeps tannins very low. Yeast turns the grape sugar into alcohol at cool temperatures to keep fruity flavors fresh.

Wines like Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio have high acidity with bright citrus and green apple flavors. Styles like oaked Chardonnay feel heavier on the tongue with buttery or vanilla notes. Wines like Riesling or Moscato retain natural grape sugars for a sweeter taste.

National White Wine Day is an unofficial food holiday celebrated annually on August 4th dedicated to honoring the history, diversity, and refreshing taste of white wine.

It is observed each August 4th of the year.

Among the varieties known to me are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling.

So pour a chilled glass of your favorite white wine. Pair a bottle with seafood, light pasta, or soft cheese. Personally I prefer to leave food out of the equation ... but to each their own.
