National Trails Day 2026

National Trails Day 2026
I was once the prolific hiker. Up and down the river walk back and forth stopping to speak with the horse mounted city police and upon their horses which I encountered.

I was in great shape and felt very good.

Today is National Trails Day.

It is held under the auspices of the US Forest Service on the the first Saturday in June and is "fee free" day across the land.

The day was established by the American Hiking Society in 1993. It encourages us to explore outdoor spaces, participate in volunteer stewardship projects, and advocate for equitable trail access.

It's a lovely day to engage in a 50 some odd mile walk so get moving !
