I cultivated an interest in spicy foods with age. Early on I was more of a milder eater. Now you can't burn me away from the table. I will not eat canned soup without doctoring it up with what I felt were the requisite spice blends because I initially grew bored with the off the shelf varieties because I felt they were lacking adequate flavor.

It took a few years to remember which combinations I preferred where until I thought they reached that taste they "should" have. Now my spice rack is bountiful and I enjoy my various canned meals much more.

Today is National Spice Blend Day.

It is celebrated annually on September 4th.

It was created in 2021 by Angel Gregorio, owner of The SpiceSuite, to mark the joint's 6th anniversary.

The day is about that rich culture, history, and global creativity behind combining herbs and spices. It highlights how unique mixtures may transform everyday cooking.
