When I was a child I had many slinkys over the years. The metal spring toy was something I would receive or purchase then break and pine over til I obtained another. There were all kinds of fantasy interludes involving these toys that would catch my fancy and hold me there.
Even in my adult life I have been known to purchase multipacks of giant slinkys and keep a few then pass a few more out to others around me.
They are very popular with adults other than myself as well.
Today is National Slinky Day and I'll likely go out and buy yet another soon. I am a fan of the metal slinky. There is also an 'extra long' version which I have been known to purchase and engage but typically tear it up much sooner than the original slinky as it is sometimes unwieldly.
I'm not real big on the plastic slinkys — which I deem to be cheap imitations ... but perhaps I am too severe. After all, a slinky is a slinky.
The bottom line is the slinky has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. It will likely hold that high level in my esteem for the rest of my life as well. You know how we children love our toys.
