It seems I can lie down for a couple of hours then sleep all night when bedtime comes. I also arise somewhere around 4 am and retire at around 7 pm.
Go figure.
I attribute this all to my elderliness.
I used to get up early and sometimes remain awake for days on end. I recall preparing for classes all weekend day and night then presenting the material on Monday with no intervening sleep.
Those days appear to be over.
Today is National Napping Day.
We observe it the Monday after Daylight Saving Time begins which is March 9, 2026 this year — observed since 1999 under the auspices of by Boston University professor William Anthony and his wife, Camille.
It supposedly helps people recover from the loss of one hour sleep. It is said to improve alertness, diminish stress, and provide for better productivity.
I find this all dubious at best.
My personal beliefs are that I should knock off all the napping I do. I really don't see it all ending, however.
