The concept subminiaturizes components for the manipulation of correspondingly small enviornments.
Often the components are molecules and atoms and these devices have a lot of "quantum realm" applications in the development of new materials and machines at the atomic scale.
This, like AI is a very up and coming bleeding edge technology even though it's been around for quite a while now.
So I like to mark the day and read up on the current state topics at least annually.
Like AI too there are various doomsday scenarios of implementations which do not have the best interests of human beings at their core.
