I remember when Dail Dinwiddie went missing long ago.
I remember how young and sweet she looked and how tragic were her circumstance.
On September 23rd, 1992 she was attending a U2 concert at Williams-Brice Stadium and later became separated from her friends at a bar ... who never saw her again.
I remember the early hopefulness turn to helplessness and then a sad realization that she may never return.
I personally believe she fell victim to some misadventure at the hands of a criminal some 32 years back and that those accompanying her failed to adequately look after her. I suppose it wasn't a requirement to protect a young woman accompanying you but there are some of us who would have at least tried. Her case remains unsolved after all these years.
Today is National Missing Persons Day which is observed on February 3 annually. The day draws attention to the thousands of missing persons throughout the country.
It also provides an opportunity to bring awareness to the general public about the people who are missing and is said to increase the chances of them being found.
National Missing Persons Day is observed for those missing as well as their families and friends who suffer the absence of their loved ones — sometimes unendingly.
