One of the scourges of aging is 'dry eye'. I find myself having dry eye during sleep. During the day it is never a problem. I attribute this to eyelid closure issues and I try not to get all bent out of shape over it.
AKA conjunctivochalasis. It is a common yet but underdiagnosed disease of the eye that can cause pain, dryness, redness, tearing, and other symptoms during it's course.
Today is National Mechanical Dry Eye Day.
It is held each May 19th under the auspices of a company called 'Bio-Tissue' since 2020 here in the United States. This day is observed increase awareness regarding this age related disorder of the eye.
