National Knife Day 2026

I have a rather extensive collection of cutlery.
I have been collecting knives for a few years now.
Nothing too extravagant but I like to embark on my day with a different blade in my pocket when possible.
Today is National Knife Day.
It happens each August 24 as a dedicated observance to appreciate one of humanity's oldest and most essential tools, recognizing the history, craftsmanship, and everyday utility of pocket knives, kitchen cutlery, and outdoor blades.
I don't do a lot of maintenance on my blades.
Sometimes I will clean, oil pivots, and sharpen dull blades on a whetstone or strop.
I attempt to exclude pocket lint, have a look at the blade centering, and otherwise tune up folding knives.
I use knives during the preparation of my meals and mark their use in extensive chopping, slicing, or detailed knife work.
It's all in a days work.
