So I've never been a "cat" person. Consider the horror of a local hawk running about 3 feet tall swooping down on a kitty of about 3 weeks old and flapping his wings to oblivion.
Yes, it appears I lost a guest kitty to a bird of prey only yesterday.
I was amazed at both the size and color of the two identical raptors which invaded my yard and pounced on the unsuspecting feline.
Never to be seen again.
Today is National Kitten Day.
It is observed each July 10 under the auspices of animal behaviorist Colleen Paige to honor the joy young felines bring us while promoting kitten adoption.
Yeah well ... provided they're not flown off to a brood of baby hawks, shreded and fed to the younger birds.I feel that at this stage of my life I am unqualified to recommend companion animals so I will defer that to some other advisor.
I hope you have a good day with whatever felines enhance your lives. I am not yet past the predation of a tiny young tabby by two 3 foot hawks in my own yard and without my permission.
They didn't even say "thank you." My elderly mother remains horrified.
