National Kitten Day 2025

kitties
We have a number of cats which congregate on my mother's front porch awaiting her dish of half and half which they then consume with great relish.

I am amazed at the apparent pecking order and how some of them assert their seniority quite vocally hissing and such. One of the gray tabbies which frequent the place just had a solid black kitten.

After a while it stopped coming around so I presume that it was either given away or sold or something. Cute as it was I had no interest in kidnapping it.

Today is National Kitten Day.

The day is about kittens and their arrival, cuteness, and addition to the swelling cat populations of the nation.

While I do think they are cute I personally resent the trailer park allowing their pets to come over and help themselves to my elderly mama's indulgence.

I hate to whine, but that case of half and half I have been buying "FOR COFFEE" doesn't last nearly as long as it did before Mom started her crusade to save every feline on the planet.

Sure, she's kind and all that but I would just as soon capture them in a Havahart trap and transport the beastie to the animal shelter on Ball Park Road in Lexington for a lethal injection.

I don't really think I can do this when Mom has this vested interest in feeding the animals. Even I cannot engage in such entrapment of a dumb animal.

So Happy National Kitten Day and I hope you can resist the urge to catch the little buggers and take them to the animal shelter for that richly deserved lethal injection.

You should have seen the looks the pretty little redhead DNR officer with the glock on her hip was giving me back when the frequency of my personal animal control program was much higher.

In retrospect it was hilarious. Yes, I know I should feel badly about it all but ... NOPE !
