I have experienced intermittent intervals whereby I abstained — but by and large I have consumed coffee regularly for the bulk of my life because I view the caffiene as a promoter of honed concentration; and I like to get jacked up, particularly when at work. I think of it as liquid motivation.

Today is National Gourmet Coffee Day. It goes down each January 18.
While I am not a gourmet of coffee or anything I do like a shot of sugar free hazelnut syrup in my cup and have been known to drink a pot or two on some days. The pot I use is a 5 cup thingie and it fills my 16 oz cup two times with a bit left over.
I see others at the Starbucks acting all hoity toity over their offerings. I am not anyone's barrista client nor do I like a lot of sweet going on in the cup.
Suffice it to say that I make my own brew and doctor it up in accordance with my personal tastes and call it a day.
While others are into the show and savoring the moment I am mostly about the effect and what is going on otherwise.
It is said that gourmet coffee is made using 100% Arabica beans.
I find that entire notion the preposterous ranting of some white trash know nothing would be "expert". I have an affinity for other varieties as well. Juan Valdez has nothing on me.
Regardless of your personal opinion I hope you have a happy National Gourmet Coffee Day and drink that brew which you enjoy most.
