National Gourmet Coffee Day 2023

The day simply makes me think of Kopi luwak, aka civet coffee where by the coffee berries are consumed by civets.
These are small mammals indigenous to tropical Asia and Africa.
After consuming the coffee berries, the feces of these animals are collected and the coffee beans are removed then processed and sold for exorbitant amounts on the free market.
I sometimes wonder if I could ever go for these concoctions so fraught with outrageous ingredients and processes.
After all we eat outrageous things in the name of new and exciting experiences and surely civet coffee can't be far off that mark !
No, I'm satisfied with Folgers and a dab of sugar free hazelnut coffee mate in those two daily cups I consume.
Suffice it to say it's gourmet enough to suit me.
