National Go Barefoot Day 2026

There was a time when I was barefoot most of the time. Particularly in Aragona Village in Virginia Beach I found myself bare of foot and that the beestings simply were not sufficient impediment to put on shoes.

Today is National Go Barefoot Day.

It is observed each year on June first under the auspices of an organization called "Soles4Souls". The day is meant to bring attention to the millions of underprivileged children internationally who lack adequate footwear. While I agree with the concept of adequate footwear for all I don't see myself running out there to collect shoes for the children who don't have them.

I don't mean them any harm but my children are all flown from the coop and I'm not looking to replace any of them.
