I am a capitalist. I believe that commmodities should be exchanged for funds and I don't go for the commie ideas of the democrat idiots now so prevalent in our nation anymore. I personally believe that migrant foreigners are the root of the problem.
Today is National Dollar Day. We observe it each August 8.
It commemorates the date in 1786 when the Continental Congress officially established the United States monetary system and chose the dollar as the country's unit of money.
Congress created the decimal-based monetary system on August 8, 1786.The design was modeled closely after the Spanish silver dollar.
The Coinage Act of 1792 later created the US Mint.
The first official US dollar coins (Flowing Hair dollars) were minted in 1794.
Paper dollar bills did not appear until 1862 during the Civil War.
I had a large collection of silver dollars which I passed out among the children of my family. I don't have the feeling that the gesture was appreciated based on the fact that there were no questions or any semblence of gratefulness.
Be all of this as it may I maintain a decent collection of silver dollars along with all manner of other coinage of the realm. I don't collect foreign coins leading me to give a quarter sized gold peso coin to my brother in law who was just as ungrateful as all the children.
I may be starting to hate these people to whom I am related by marriage and I consider moving far away to remove them from my life.
