National Deviled Egg Day 2023

Depending upon exactly when they make it to the table I either LOVE or shun deviled eggs. Case in point: one Easter Sunday dinner at Mom's house in Salley, SC we were sitting at the dinner table for about twenty minutes when it was noticed that the magnificent platter of deviled eggs had not made it from the fridge to the table.

I would also like to point out that these were made by my sister who is a culinary expert in her own right. Clearing a platter of her expert creations is commonplace in the world I know.

Now, I am one to typically jump on a few deviled eggs as a matter of course, except when I am full of turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, and various other inclusions to a big holiday meal.

Subsequently, I didn't partake of this particular platter — and this is not speaking ill of them mind you — but it's simply not feasible for a full stomach to jump on a bunch of deviled eggs at the last minute.

Today is National Deviled Egg Day. It goes down each November second and is a time for implementing your favorite recipe in time for the next meal.

I like deviled eggs. Even in their propensity for causing noxious gas with all that sulfur contained in the yolks ...

Just don't spring them on me too late to be enthusiastic.

I will be happy to pass gas in your general direction.
