I spent a chunk of my young adulthood working clinics on the West coast whereby I got dipped into the hazards and therapies associated with hepatic microsomal enzyme abnormalities, HIV, shingles, various cancers, and dyscrasias —
Which I took in stride in spite of the very long workday and associated stressors of being in the spotlight for the staff, the patient, their families, and significant others.
Today is National Cancer Awareness Day.
It is held under the auspices of the Government of India (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) each November 7 and is primarily recognized in India.
The aim is the promotion of early detection, preventatives, and awareness and awareness regarding the various neoplasms which manifest as cancer.
National Cancer Awareness Day highlights the importance of understanding cancer risks, recognizing early symptoms, and seeking timely medical care.
It encourages healthier lifestyle choices such as good nutrition, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco.
The day is represented by the wearing of a Lavender Ribbon which — represents all cancers collectively, uniting awareness efforts across types.
I hope you and yours never suffer the scourge of cancer in your lifetime.
