In the beginning I was a blue collar man. After years my life became null and void and I failed to see any purpose in my existence. For I pursued a career avenue for which I had insufficient will and drive. So I abandoned this existence for something I already knew ... computer hardware, software, and media. I immersed myself in troubleshooting, repair, and programming in several languages.
What started as mostly a hobby became my career all of a sudden. The beauty of it all was the training I received from world class practitioners which I soaked up like a sponge. The right employment can always improve your skillset. Early on I branched out into teaching college — not because I enjoyed it, but for the $5,000 post tax take on it all.
Life was okay up to a point when I became unable to pursue those avenues I chose and became thrust into the very inferior microsoft technologies because everyone for whom I worked was stupid just like them.
So I retired.
Today is National Blue Collar Day. It is observed annually on December the 8th in an effort to recognize blue collar workers everywhere. Though the bulk of my career was not physical labor I did indeed work with my hands and engaged by brain via a keyboard.
Though white collar was my existence I always remained a blue collar man.
Happy National Blue Collar Day and don't let the stupid bastards hold you down.
