I used to be purely a Navy man. Having been the son of a Master Chief and served myself it was a natural connection that I made over time until ...
I met Johnny H Pruett, who became my step father upon his marriage to my mother. They had a wonderful life together up until his passing and from that time I have felt an affinity for the Air Force, which was that service he entered having attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
So I became a child of two services because they were important to both father figures in my life. Their extreme concern for me became that impetus for becoming that military offspring I presently am. I was not always so military centric; but love changes all things.
Today we mark another National Aviation Day. This United States national observation celebrates the development of aviation.
Established in 1939 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt by presidential proclamation designating the anniversary of Orville Wright's birthday to be National Aviation Day.
He was born in 1871 and was living at the issue of the proclamation.
All federal buildings and installations are directed to fly the US flag. Citizens are encouraged to observe the day with activities promoting interest in aviation.
