I'm not too airplane centric. Indeed, my aversion to taking a cruise on a ship is only eclipsed by my avoidance of air travel whenever possible. I'm not afraid of heights. I believe my fears surround that possibility for falling from the sky.
Today is National Aviation Day. It is an observance in the United States commemorating the development and evolution of aviation. Established in 1939 by President Franklin D Roosevelt by presidental proclamation to correspond with Orville Wright's birthday, and promotes interest in aviation and avionics.
This day is significant to me personally because my beloved late stepfather was a retired senior enlisted man in the US Air Force. That which was important to him became important to me ... much like those characteristics imparted to me by my late biological father remain with me to this day.
