MLK Assassination

Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4, 1968, at 6:01 pm CST.
He was shot while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, and was pronounced dead shortly after at a local hospital.
He was 39 years old and in the process of supporting a sanitation workers' strike.
Dr King was in Memphis to lead a peaceful march and support the Poor People's Campaign.
James Earl Ray later pleaded guilty to the assassination.
However there was public dispute over the notion that Ray could have acted alone.
Thusly, one of the great icons of my youth. The racial strife was palpable for a long time.
Now we have a bunch of people who already believe they are owed anything and everything ... but they still want more and more.
A man with whom I had imagined conversing many times over the course of my childhood — was snuffed out over a petty political disagreement.
Truly a sad day for democracy, humanity, and the United States of America.
