ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day 2019
The ailment known as Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) AKA myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), is a group of symptonms which collectively indicate and characterize long-term fatigue with or without other persistent symptoms which may limit a person's ability to carry out their activities of daily living.
Today is ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day which is primarily a political vehicle for the improvement of the knowledge to be had by healthcare professionals, governmental policy makers, and the public at large.
The day also corresponds with the birth day of Florence Nighingale who suffered from a neurological/immune disease which may have been similar.
The cause of this pathology is unknown and there is no qualitative or quantitative measure by test.
Whereas I have known several people with this ailment some have claimed it was secondary to viral infection.
Regardless, it is a debilitating mimic of disease process and underlying causality and is therefore inherently difficult to treat because it's hard to nail it down to specifics.
