Yeah, lightening up has been a challenge for me at times.
I recall visiting my Navy buddy the late Jerry Landry in Barnstable Massachusetts one cold snowy November way back in the early 1990s.
I arose the first morning and dressed as I normally do with a long sleeve shirt, tie, dress pants and shoes only to have his dear mother admonish me to "lighten up" at breakfast.
So the act of destressing always involved a schedule modification to which I didn't readily adhere ... and being knock down drag out busy for the bulk of my career didn't promote relaxation or happiness either.
However, the pay was typically over the top and that's why I put up with it all as I gnashed my teeth for the paparazzi and got on with the business of IT support despite how I felt personally that day ...
So today is Loosen Up Lighten Up Day. It is observed each November 14 for persons such as myself who have had issues in the past with taking the laid back approach to things happening.
It attempts to preempt those burnouts and the break downs associated with the workaday world.
I must admit to having much fewer of these since my forced retirement.
