Though I have dabbled in magick as an amateur until that fateful midnight that it scared the crap out of me I have been careful to avoid two things:
ouija
seances
These two items of paranormal interaction have been cautionary tales throughout my life to the point that I would not risk actual interaction.
My spiritual upbringing and religious experience has taught me that evoking demons and interaction with sorcerers, witches, familar spirits, and so forth are serious matters according to the commandments of God and therefore sins of the spirit. Furthermore, I have witnessed ouija sessions that ended badly for the participants and I have an ability to benefit from the experiences of others ...
Particularly when they are presented graphically in videos with hideous aftermaths that caused shudders.
Then we have the so-called psychic mediums on the television who represent themselves as those who channel the dead with messages for the living.
I watch these programs in light of those readings which forbid their practice in life because they are interesting from a correlation of what the participant walks away feeling they understand.
So when I face the White Throne judgement, I hope that the one true God will not hold these transgressions against me because it was indeed television programming.
I just cant make myself go there in active participation and utilize some ouija board. Any invitation to a seance will be declined for those same trepidations I feel.
Some of us do not feel the need to tempt God or fate in pursuit of some earthly thrill.
