IoT Stratagem ...

    Stop Buying Chinese Technology
The Internet of Things has been something to avoid on my network. While I secure my routers with a lock down most others ignore the entire notion of internet controlled stuff in the crib simply isn't flying with me presently ... and it's not that I don't think it is "cool" like so many others in my midst.

Internet enabled objects in the environment simply provide an exploitation mechanism I can do without at this time.

The premise lay in my opinion that the inherent risk due to hacking increases with the number of internet capable objects to be found in the enviroment.

Now to me, this certainly goes without saying. It seems that each window for malicious attack by that criminal element among the rest of we netizens is represented by the various environmental items we may control from the internet ...

Internet controlled switches, thermostats, and those other items with embedded systems could be as hazardous to our personal space as they are to the power grids and other networked automation controls we choose to place online without sufficient access control. The many articles I have read regarding IoT and risk assessment and management are really thought provoking with mention of internet controlled air conditioning, nuclear power plants, pacemakers, insulin pumps, smart meters and so forth being exploited by those who mean us harm.

So it would seem that my ever-wary conspiracy theory suspicion will protect me from engaging too much internet connectivity as a matter of controlling my environment remotely. Perhaps, if I ever view sufficient control exists my attitude may soften but I don't foresee it until I feel my firewall can prevent another person from reaching out and touching me without my express permission.

Perhaps when we stop buying all of our routers and switches from gd China my suspicious nature may abate. I simply decline to trust the enemy at all and China is our enemy. They spy on us and steal our technology and those in control are impotent to stop them.

I could stop them but I would not be popular and a lot of dead chinese would be laying around stinking up the place even more than they already do.

Technological stupidity ends when technology is a domestic product. Stop the chinese infiltration of the technology markets in the United States.
