International Eat an Apple Day 2025

Honey Crisp Apple

I have eaten apples my entire life.

My present favorite is the Honey Crisp apple which I like for both it's taste and texture.

I can also always go for a nice tart Granny Smith apple as well.

I grew up being told that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away".

The point is that eating fruit is contributory to good nutrition which consequently affects our health.

Today is International Eat An Apple Day.

It is observed each third Saturday of September annually, making it September 20 this year.

The day encourages us to eat an apple for health benefits but not to stop at one.

The apple originated in central Asia in a region now known as "Almaty" which refers to "Father of Apples".

As a result of consumer demand, those original apples have evolved into various varieties of apples here in The States, such as the Red and Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and McIntosh.
