International Day of Colour 2026

Today is International Day of Colour held under the auspices of the International Colour Association since 2009. It was first proposed in 2008 by the Portuguese Color Association.

The date of March 21 was chosen due to the contemporaneous vernal equinox and that accompanying symbology in the form of the balance of light and darkness.

The day is said to Celebrate the vital role color plays in our lives and the world.

First of all, I feel that they misspelled the word color. Secondly, while color is an inclusion in my life I don't have this overwhelming need to include it in every aspect of my existence. Finally, the concepts of design, psychology, and nature, as well as events including art exhibitions, workshops, and architectural displays are "lesser entities" than they must be to many others.

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that color is nice but it isn't everything and your "be all" and "end all" should be on the technical end of things rather than solely artsy farts drivel like this.

Initiated by the International Colour Association (AIC) in 2009, this date was chosen for its alignment with the vernal equinox, symbolizing the balance of light and darkness.

The International Day of Colour serves as a reminder to appreciate how colors shape our emotions and perceptions of the world ...

Some of us much more than others.

Regardless, happy International Day of Colour.
