In the beginning I was an AM radio playlist warrior listening to whatever drivel was playing in the absence of FM radio — which came along in my life much later.
Then, at the gentle behest of my good friend the late Jerry Landry of Cape Cod I sold my soul to rock and roll and was quite the convert for many a year. Jerry was always one to indulge a country music number or two or three himself.
Finally I went through my Reba McEntire stage and pretty much began cultivating a taste for twang and all those aspects of country music which I had allowed to elude me for so long.
So now, country music is just fine and dandy with me ...
And I remain very pro Reba McEntire as well. We are the same age but she is much prettier than I. Regardless my enamour remains a musical favorite for many years now and I have been enthralled by those various numbers of her as chanteuse played on various media sites —
And I though I know it will never be ...
I still have those fantasy thoughts I cannot escape.
Today is International Country Music Day.
It happens each September 17 and is a day for celebration of country music and all those things which go with it.
Being a genre indiginous to the United States I am proud to say that I'm an American and that I finally have some of my daddy showing through my personality. He was a big fan of country music of the Hank Williams era. So feel free to get out there and participate in a little shit kicking music like my daddy did.
