Hello all you typers out there. Today is International Caps Lock Day.
This day is observed twice a year on June 28 and October 22.
It is held under the auspices of the software developer Derek Arnold.
It is meant to draw attention to those compelled to type in all caps.
The June 28 Date was added in honor of the late infomercial pitch man Billy Mays who died in 2009 and was known for his loud high energy delivery. Rest in peace.
The key has roots in the oldie but goodie typewriter with both upper and lower case letters arrving on the Remington Number 2 typewriter in 1878 and the shift lock following in 1914 with the computer Caps Lock debuting on the Xerox Alto in 1973. This was the year I graduated high school.
