William James Murray was born September 21, 1950.
He is an American actor and comedian, known for his deadpan delivery in roles ranging from studio comedies to independent dramas.
He has received several accolades including a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards as well as a nomination for an Academy Award.
Bill Murray was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2016.
Some of my favorites in his body of work are for acting.
His portrayal of Phil in Groundhog Day has to be my most favorite. The acting was superb and I have watched the film several times just to get an accurate feel of the scope spectrum he provided.
I suppose an accurate second would fall to his portrayal of Frank Cross in Scrooged. I tell you it went from being a pisser to as full blown heartwarming a tale as I have ever watched
... Again and again.
I have read accounts of the various altercations in which he is said to be involved with colleagues on the set and all I can say is I will take Bill Murray as he is — scrappy interludes and all. He remains as one of those premiere actors in my personal list of favorites and there he will remain.
So if you're around me don't mess with Bill. I no longer go looking for trouble — but I'm packing these days because I'm WAY too old not to.
