Fountain Pen Day 2026

Fountain Pen
I had a fountain pen experimentation interlude in my younger days.

I was in grade school, I believe when I received a number of cartridge fountain pens with which I would write.

I cultivated quite the freehand script.

Penmanship was never a source of personal pride for me.

It was a means to the end of communication and therefore a personal priority.

My late best friend, Eldon Dewitt Casey told me that it was a "pretty" hand writing.

He said that I drew the writing on the page and it had the ability to hold interest.

I was reticent to continue practicing because his words made me feel rather "effeminate".

Today is Fountain Pen Day.

It was established on the first Friday of November to celebrate the liquid-ink writing instrument.

The technology first patented in 1827.

It was said that only "nib on paper" handwriting produces the full expressive range of an individual’s script.

All I can say is I've received my fair share of oohs and ahs over my writing much to the point that I don't place it on display anymore.

Never was a fan of cutesy cutesy.
