Flag Day 2026

I have always been one to watch how the National Ensign is comported during times of remembrance and ceremony. I have been known to open my mouth unto establishment at the drop of a hat when I feel there has been breach of protocol. I was once told I was too concerned with these matters and so I dropped them.

Today is Flag Day.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed the first Flag Resolution, stating that the flag of the United States would have 13 alternating red and white stripes and 13 white stars on a blue field.

President Woodrow Wilson first established June 14 as Flag Day in 1916, and it was signed into law as a national observance by President Harry Truman in 1949.

The day is a time to reflect on American history, the journey of the country, and the symbology of the flag's colors (red relating to valor and zeal, white representing purity and innocence, and blue standing for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

Yeah, sometimes I get too grabby, especially in matters of patriotism.
