In 1958 one Jack St Clair Kilby (1923–2005) was an American electrical engineer who invented the first integrated circuit or microchip, while working at Texas Instruments.

In 1958 I was every bit of 3 years old.

An integrated circuit (IC), or microchip, is a tiny silicon wafer holding thousands to billions of miniaturized electronic components like transistors, resistors, and capacitors.

It utilizes minituration to pack complex circuitry onto a single semiconductor piece.

They are interconnected by microscopic metal pathways to link components without individual wires.

Doped silicon regions are utilized to switch or amplify signals.



Main Types:
1.Digital ICs: Process binary signals (0s and 1s) for computers and logic.
2.Analog ICs: Handle continuous voltage signals for audio and sensors.
3.Mixed-Signal ICs: Combine both analog and digital functions on one chip.
4.Memory ICs: Store temporary or permanent data like RAM and ROM.
