Felt Hat Day 2025

    brown felt fedora
I rarely wear hats. This is a throwback from my Navy days whereby I was "out of uniform" if I were not wearing one.

My personal preference these days is a brown felt Fedora of which I own several.

It's not a fashion statement. It's primarily to cover my bald as a baby's bottom head ...

Male pattern baldness stimulates the market for hats with males anymore as far as I can tell.

I find the hat particularly comforting in the coldest winter months.

Today is National Felt Hat Day.

It is observed each September 15 in the name of hats throughout history.

In cooler weather they help keep the heat in your body because most of it escapes from the top of your head.

Again, I don't don a hat for fashion. I wear them out of necessity by and large.

Anyway if you care to don a hat today is your day. I personally see fit to avoid the hat unless necessary. Unfortunately, they become a necessity the older I get.

Happy National Felt Hat Day to you and I hope your wardrobe is replete with as many hats as your can stand !
