When I was a kid turning the am radio dial I would sometimes listen to a group called The Animals.
Their front man had a very distinctive voice and I found him entertaining over those short interludes I encountered him.
Later, I would see him on PBS specials during their telethon broadcasts grubbing for fundage and I liked him even more.
I have to admit, though the Eric Burdon's music is an acquired taste cultivated over the years as I gained appreciation for both genre and unique presentations.
Eric Victor Burdon was born on this day in 1941.
His main claim to fame is that of an English singer who intrigued my childhood moments periodically.
He is also a songwriter and actor.
His performances were marked by powerful agressive aspects unknown in those earlier British invasion type pieces.
He was initially the lead vocalist for The Animals as well as providing vocals for the funk band War. Hows that for spectrum.
