The realization of my insignificance in the great scheme of things has caused me to become somewhat of a realist and has given me a great appreciation for that vastness which is all outside of my personal space.

January 4th, 2022 @ 1:52 am EST finds us at the Earth's perihelion.
This is the point at which the Earth is closest to the Sun the event goes down some two weeks after the Winter solstice, which I also mark as a matter of personal interest.
The corresponding inverse event is when the earth is farthest from the Sun aka "its aphelion" which happens about two weeks after the Summer solstice.
Our planet is farthest from the Sun when it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
