Dormition of the Mother of God

I have known the special relationship which is having parents who both loved and cared for me even into my september years and I am fortunate to have had such indulgence by God on my behalf.
The virgin birth of Christ is something I hold as special in my heart.
Like the holy step father, Joseph who was Christ's earthly father these chosen two are as special a couple of individuals as any of whom I can think.
Today is the feast of the Dormition of the Virgin.
We mark the passing of Mary, the mother of Christ on this day — who was subsequently raised from the dead before ascending into Heaven.
The term 'dormition' is a descriptive reference to sleep such as that death and dying are ascribed.
Celebrated on August 28 on the new style Julian calendar ...
it may also be observed on August 15 with some groups celebrating the day on the Sunday nearest August 15.
Regardless of that day upon which it is celebrated, it is a hallowed part of Christianity and therefore my life.
