I bought 2 hummingbird feeders from Dr JB's in an effort to pursue ease of weekly setup. All I got was disappointment.
The literature plainly states that they are dishwasher safe in the top rack.
However, it seems they are assembled with silicone adhesive instead of something more durable or heat resistent and even on the top rack they fell apart revealing both the shoddy construction and contaminates in the adhesive.
I paid a lot more for these feeders than I did the 32 oz Perky Pet 301 Our Best feeder which I placed into service for more than 12 years prior to taking them to the Goodwill because I trusted the JB feeders the notion of which turned out to be quite misguided.
So if you want to hand wash the things in dilute bleach solution I think they may work well for you.
If you're looking for something you can pop in the dishwasher, rinse in vinegar and not skip a beat you would be better off utilizing something not quite so inferior in construction.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Boo !
Needless to say a new set of Perky Pet feeders is now in my immediate future ... along with another trip to the Goodwill store to donate a couple of inferior Dr JBs feeders.
