Christmas Eve

Another Christmas Eve is upon me. This year I'm left quite sad over the loss of my stepfather, who will be gone for a year next month. Though I'm trying to get through it all with as festive an attitude as possible I fear this simply is not to be for 2016.

I remain grateful for those blessings I have received and I understand the nature of the circle of life and how we all eventually pass — but somehow it's little comfort at a time meant for good cheer when all I can do is abide.

Regardless, I do hope that you and yours celebrate the merriest Christmas this holiday season. I'll just be a litte preoccupied this year. It happens.

Christmas Eve
The Christmas Song

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some
Mistletoe help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa’s on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies
On his sleigh
And every mother's
Child is gonna spy to see if
Reindeer really know how to fly

And so, I'm offering this
Simple phrase to kids from
One to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times
Many ways
Merry Christmas to you
