Bite as a Metaphor

    teeth

A metaphor is a figure of speech where a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. These represent or symbolize abstract concepts which are actually something else entirely.

When utilizing devices like figurative phraseology such as hyperbole, simile, irony, and other tools of the wordsmith it is important that the receiver of these attempts to toy are able to paraphrase them adequately in context lest misunderstandings ensue.

Those rhetorical effects may otherwise obscure the intent to indicate similarities between two ideas resulting in sometimes profoundly misconstrued interpretations.

Expect to be misunderstood.
