He graduated from Columbia University in 1966 with honors in economics and as valedictorian of the 1970 Yale Law School class.
He has worked as an attorney and actor as well as screenwriter and has appeared in numerous commercials. He is a strong fiscal conservative and has made some very telling observations on the waste of taxpayer funds within government.
He is married to entertainment-industry attorney Alexandra Denman, and has a son named Tom Stein.
He has a companion animal named puppy wuppy of which he is quite fond.
