This is a new one for me. This is my first year collecting social security benefits.
All those many years of FICA deductions came to fruition when I decided my employment had abruptly become a total waste of time and effort.
This transpired after I checked out my age and the ratios based upon it then decided I could adequately meet expenses.
Anyway, I've been drawing my "check" for about 8 months now. Actually it is a required direct deposit and I don't get a paper check.
I decided not to give anyone grief about it and things have been very boring without the workaday grind.
I'm one of those guys who needs somewhere to go. I will likely pursue something part time in the near future. I've been looking but nothing seems to float my boat.
Appreciate Your Social Security Check Day is held each January 31st to celebrate the entitlements that we get as the result of a lifetime of FICA deductions from our paychecks.
Actually, I'm having a bit of difficulty with the word "entitlement" having paid into this system for what is knocking 50 years.
However, in the spirit of the day I really do appreciate all the help I can get.
I do not feel illegals should be given money from a system into which they never paid.
