Mozilla Thunderbird is Untrustworthy
shot up thunderbird for cause

Every time I allow Thunderbird to handle my email Mozilla always drops the ball and there is no recovery.

The handling of email remains inherently faulty.

It seems that Mozilla is more interested in forging new rules instead of following those old trusted tried and true protocols in place.

Once you update it forget about any manner of recovery of your stuff. It simply doesn't mesh with it's own data at any level.

Therefore, I decline to EVER allow this vaporware to handle my email again. It is simply too frustrating from a user standpoint.

I hate to bitch slap some company out there trying to make it, but if there was ANY company that deserved to be slapped around it is Mozilla for loosing the scourge called Thunderbird on the world.

Freeware should not scream "let me victimize you".

Robin McLaurin Williams RIP 2025
Robin Williams

One of my favorite personalities on both television and the big screen was Robin Williams.

His was a wide spectrum of talent we've not seen since.

He was funny, eloquent, and articulate to an uncommon degree.

Today I mark the passing of Robin Williams on August 11, 2014 at Paradise Cay, California.

It was ruled suicide resulting from asphyxia due to hanging from that dark place called Lewy body dementia and other associated factors.

I personally blame cancellation of "The Crazy Ones", a CBS sitcom that aired from 2013 to 2014.

I feel that had it been allowed to continue Robin may have had something for which to live.

Robin McLaurin Williams

July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014

Actor comedian extraordinaire 1976–2014

Rest in peace.

World Jump Day 2025
    jump
I'm afraid that jumping has never been my forte.

The adage white men can't jump certainly is accurate in the context of me.

It seems that global warming is the crux of World Jump Day.

It is celebrated each July 20 annually at exactly at 11:39:13 GMT.

The aim is to coordinate the jumping in an effort to force the earth into a new orbit.

The Day was started by German artist Torsten Lauschmann who is a rather scruffy appearing dude if I ever saw one.

It seems that this day is about shifting the orbit of Earth, in an effort to extend daylight hours and to create a more standardized climate throughout the world.

This day strikes me personally as more tongue in cheek than anything else.

I'm not really a proponent of global warming myself.

Regardless of whether you think it is a serious notion or not I hope you'll observe the day in accordance with your wishes.

I for one will not be jumping thank you.

National Urban Beekeeping 2025
Urban Beekeeper
Ever since the employees of Dorchester County, South Carolina decided to spray the entire bee population with malathion effectively eradicating them I have been anti county government and pro honeybees since.

Today is National Urban Beekeeping Day.

The day is held under the auspices of Detroit Hives, a non-profit organization and it goes down each July 19th.

The day promotes the keeping of bee hive colonies in those citified areas as a hobby or just to provide a recovery mechanism given the fact that bees are essential to food production and Dorchester County, South Carolina isn't.

Economic and environmental growth are what our six legged friends have to offer.

Swarming and other issues have resulted in unnecessary bee bans but those ignorant nay sayers simply don't understand the significant impact of the bee on food production.

Then there is the dreaded colony collapse disorder and the various fungal and bacterial problems bees may develop.

I can't believe how stupid regarding the big picture we can be as a population sometimes.

Those so-called priorities set forth by those who would restrict bee keeping in urban areas need to have a foot planted firmly in their ass.

I feel a nice large size 14 EEE such as that I wear would do nicely during the planting process.

So hug a bee hive and raise them as your own.

If we lose the bees we lose a lot more than most realize.

Happy National Urban Beekeeping you city dweller you.

It's Lucie Arnaz's Birthday 2025
Lucy Arnez

When I was a kid there were Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, and their children Lucy and Desi.

Lucie Désirée Arnaz was born July 17, 1951.

She is the daughter of actors Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and the older sister of actor and musician Desi Arnaz, Jr.

She is an American actress and singer.

The variouse iterations of the Lucille Ball Show were something I viewed as a child so they were all naturally there.

Lucie Arnaz was born at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

She is the daughter of actors Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and is the sister of actor Desi Arnaz Jr.

She lived for a few years in New York City from the age of 10, and attended St. Vincent Ferrer School, along with her brother, and later attended the Roman Catholic Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles.

She was married to Philip Vandervort Menegaux from July 17, 1971, to April 1976.

On June 22, 1980, she married actor-writer Laurence Luckinbill. Luckinbill and Arnaz live in Palm Springs, California.

They have three children: Simon, Joseph and Katharine Luckinbill.

Luckinbill also has two sons from his previous marriage: Nicholas and Benjamin Luckinbill.

She attended an all-girls Catholic high school, to attend their drama program.

Today is her birthday. She is 74 years young.

Happy Birthday to You !

TLS/SSL Certificate Hell
    obfuscated csr
Pardon me while I wind up my certificate renewal.

As usual last minute developments complicated everything to the nth degree.

I find myself filled with hate and discontent for the world wide web, email, and every aspect of running a server cluster and internet node from my house.

I had to rebuild an obsolete server just to receive certificate updates.

I will conclude matters today.

This is a scant 10 days before things expire.

So while I'm bitching and moaning I try to keep it all in perspective.

There were days when my server cluster was the hallmark of my existence.

That was then this is now.

I am also left feeling I need a new certificate vendor as mine is totally unsatisfactory.

The Advent and Decline of Dave Dave
    Dave Dave aka David Rothenberg

When I was in Los Angeles of the early 1980s there was a local tragedy which profoundly affected me and destroyed my sense of understanding people.

Dave Dave, born David Charles Rothenberg was set on fire by his father in 1983 during a marital dispute with his mother.

He suffered burns over 90% of his body.

Having cast aside his birth name, Dave Dave chose the monker he personally preferred for the duration of his short life.

The fellow was very engaging and suffered numerous surgeries to correct burn damage.

He wore his war wounds like a crown.

Other aliases by which he became known included David Jordan Robinson.

He said that Michael Jackson was like a father to him.

He was educated at the ArtCenter College of Design.

He ended up a contemporary conceptual artist, a music producer, a disc jockey, a rap musician, and a music video director.

He was awarded a Hollywood F.A.M.E. posthumously in 2018.

He passed this earthly existence at age 42 from pneumonia on July 15 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. Dave Dave grasped life with a passion many never realize. He was highly respected as an artist.

Who knows what evil lurkes in the hearts of men ?

Dave Dave knew. He confronted his father at the age of 19 and had his say.

For a man who suffered that which he did he lead a very rich and creative life.

He passed seven years ago today. Rest in peace.

Dave Dave aka David Rothenberg

Happy Birthday Linda Ronstadt 2025
    Linda Ronstadt
On of my favorite female vocalists has always been Linda Ronstadt.

I first heard her in the early 1970s while cavorting as a fat little high school redneck in Aiken County, South Carolina.

She has since released numbers which have commandered my soul for their lyrical beauty, striking melody, and musical range.

One of my favorite of her numbers involved her coming onstage in short shorts and a light blouse whereby she belted out "Poor Poor Pitifiul Me".

This went down at a movie theater in Charleston, South Carolina during my Naval enlistment.

Linda Maria Ronstadt was born July 15, 1946 and is an American singer who has performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music.

She has been suffering from Parkinson's disease since 2013 which has adversely affected her singing due to impaired muscular control.

I remember her for who she is and all she has meant to me.

Today is her birthday. She is 79 years young today.

Happy birthday to you.

International Non-Binary Peoples Day 2025
Smith and Wesson Trans Cure
Among the woke freaks of the world are those who consider themselves "non binary" i.e., not "male" or "female". Now then, it the dull and commonplace minds which are part and parcel of the stupid democrats who coddle to anybody whim for a vote.

The ONLY non binary human beings on the planet which are included in that broad spectrum called "Normal" are the chromosomal mosaics who have combinations of genes from both sexes in one individual.

The rest of you stupid assholes can drop dead. Your binary status can be revealed by genetic testing ... but not your stupid opinion freaks.

Today is International Non-binary People’s Day.

It is observed each year on July 14 internationally.

Non-binary people claim to identify as both a man and a woman or as someone who falls somewhere in between. The problem with this is the unqualified nature of the designation. Stupid people are making erroneous claims regarding their genetic makeup because "its how they feel".

Well, I have a cure for what ails you.

Yet another national tragedy courtesy of the group calling themselves "woke". Transgender is just another word for mentally deficient.

Embrace Your Geekness Day 2025
    geekness
There are a number of holidays touting geeks and geekdom.

I'd like to say the proponets were qualified to make the claim to fame, but I'm afraid they are largely "all show and no go" (Thank you Jon Collette).

I don't engage in fandom. A fanboy I will never be. Call me some fanboy and you may never walk or talk again.

My inner geek is a deep understanding of technology from a time when it was budding from non existence.

The stupidity of the 1970s gave rise to who I am.

I declined to be just another dumbass in the mix — so I engaged subject matter expertise in the areas of Unix, networking, hardware building and repair, human anatomy, physiology, and hepatic microsomal enzyme pathways to a level uncommon in the realms of the dull and commonplace from which I arose.

... Such as Orange County, California and Aiken County, South Carolina.

And I reigned supreme for 40 years.

Today is Embrace Your Geekness Day.

It's for those with a true claim, not the innumerable posers you find saying they are what they aren't.

When I put down my comic books and took up the keyboard things changed for me.

I was once a wizard.

I was once the one they called upon for the answers.

I was the one on the planet who could fix the machine to original spec.

I don't even care where the origins of the day are.

The fanatacism I once pursued has long dimmed by the ravages of age and I have never bit the head off a live chicken.

If you are a geek this is one of those days for you.

If you are something less, pursue your dreams anyway.

Happy Embrace Your Geekness Day.

International Skinny Dip Day 2025
skinny dipping
Skinny Dipping is the act of swimming naked.

That which was once considered uncouth and shameful was glorified by noteworthies such as Benjamin Franklin, Thoreau, and even Walt Whitman.

The phrase was coined somewhere around 1947 and it has since gained both a modicum of acceptance and a following.

When I was a child my dad went to the river. I was not told what was going to happen but everyone started disrobing and going into the water.

Oh, my suck up brother was the first to gleefully show off his tiny pecker to everyone there because he has never had any taste. Just look at his choices in various riff raff women over the years. Needless to say I neither participated nor did I EVER return to the river with my daddy, either. I was left feeling totally betrayed and feel that I was denied both disclosure and informed consent.

It is International Skinny Dip Day held under the auspices of The American Association for Nude Recreation somce 2018.

You can say I hold stereotypes regarding nude bathing and the propriety of discarding ones clothes in public. Be all of this as it may I am a private type and prefer not to go around displaying everything I don't have for the world to see. I simply have a modesty which will not be supplanted by some insipid inbred hick element in my gene pool.

Yeah, I won't be going skinny dipping either, thank you.

National Motorcycle Day 2025
    2025 Harley Davidson Roadglide
I had a motorcycle period which came and went. I was pretty much a young elementary school student while this transpired.

I have occasionally had relapses which were far and few between.

Then I lost a good friend as the result of a local accident and his tragic death really did mess his family up.

I decided then that I would be a truck guy and drive an F150.

This is where I stand now.

Today is National Motorcycle Day.

It is observed on the second Friday of July annually.

It is said that Gottlieb Daimler created the first motorcycle. He named his creation "The Daimler Reitwagen".

So if you are a two wheel person or a four or more wheel person you can go for it as your style and budget permits.

I was surprised at all the expences associated with the purchase of Ford trucks on the open market.

Had I known what I know likely I would probably ride atop a Harley myself.

You just never know what kind of crooks you will encounter in the market place.

National Kitten Day 2025
kitties
We have a number of cats which congregate on my mother's front porch awaiting her dish of half and half which they then consume with great relish.

I am amazed at the apparent pecking order and how some of them assert their seniority quite vocally hissing and such. One of the gray tabbies which frequent the place just had a solid black kitten.

After a while it stopped coming around so I presume that it was either given away or sold or something. Cute as it was I had no interest in kidnapping it.

Today is National Kitten Day.

The day is about kittens and their arrival, cuteness, and addition to the swelling cat populations of the nation.

While I do think they are cute I personally resent the trailer park allowing their pets to come over and help themselves to my elderly mama's indulgence.

I hate to whine, but that case of half and half I have been buying "FOR COFFEE" doesn't last nearly as long as it did before Mom started her crusade to save every feline on the planet.

Sure, she's kind and all that but I would just as soon capture them in a Havahart trap and transport the beastie to the animal shelter on Ball Park Road in Lexington for a lethal injection.

I don't really think I can do this when Mom has this vested interest in feeding the animals. Even I cannot engage in such entrapment of a dumb animal.

So Happy National Kitten Day and I hope you can resist the urge to catch the little buggers and take them to the animal shelter for that richly deserved lethal injection.

You should have seen the looks the pretty little redhead DNR officer with the glock on her hip was giving me back when the frequency of my personal animal control program was much higher.

In retrospect it was hilarious. Yes, I know I should feel badly about it all but ... NOPE !
